The Programs of Postgraduate Studies that are organised in cooperation with the Departments of the University of Patras are the following:

  • Interuniversity Graduate Program in Cultural heritage management: Archaeology, City and Architecture organized by Faculty of History and Archaeology of the University of Athens in collaboration with the Department of Architecture of the University of Patras and the Department of Cultural Technology of the University of the Aegean. Authorized to award a M.Sc. degree.
  • Interuniversity and interdepartmental Postgraduate Program in “ Isolation and Synthesis of Natural Products with Biological Activity” The Departments of Chemistry of the Universities Crete ,Athens, Thessaloniki, Ioannina, Patras, Department of Medicine of the University of Crete, the Department of Pharmacy of the University of Patras and the Agriculture University of Athens participate in the program.
  • Interuniversity Postgraduate program in "Organic Synthesis and its applications in Chemical Industry" . The Departments of Chemistry of the Universities Athens, Thessaloniki, Patras, Crete, Ioannina and the General Department of Agricultural University of Athens participate in the program . The Department of Chemistry, University of Athens has the administrative support of the program.
  • Interuniversity Postgraduate Program in “ Inorganic Biological Chemistry”. The Departments of Chemistry of the Universities, Ioannina, Athens, Thessaloniki, Patras, Crete and Cyprus participate in the program. The Department of Chemistry , University of Ioannina has the administrative support of the program.
  • The Department of Civil Engineering participates in the European Erasmus Mundus Masters Course ΜEEES (Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology), which awards a joint Masters from the following Universities: University of Patras, Institute for Advanced Study/University of Pavia, University of Grenoble Joseph Fourier and Middle East Technical University. The MEEES program admits top level international students with a strong background in civil engineering, aiming to offer a highly competitive program of advanced studies in earthquake engineering and engineering seismology.
  • The Departments of Medicine of Democritus University of Thrace and University of Patras organize, from the academic year 2015-2016, the Interuniversity and interdepartmental Postgraduate Program in “Rhinology-Rhinosurgery”. This is the first Postgraduate Program organized in Otorhinolaryngology in Greece and according to the best of our knowledge also in Europe.The Program admits top level postgraduate studies, research opportunities and practical skills in Rhinology-Rhinosurgery. It is authorized to award a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree diploma in “Rhinology-Rhinosurgery”.
    The aims of the aforementioned Program include:
    a) Training and specialization in the area of Rhinology-Rhinosurgery, such as in endoscopic sinus surgery, in treatment protocols for the diseases of the nose and paranasal sinuses, for sleep disorders, as well as for smell and taste disorders, and
    b) In-depth training of new scientists, enabling them to participate in promoting health and research.
    Accepted for registration in the Program are selected graduates from Departments of Medicine of Greek Universities and Medical Departments of non-Greek Universities- according to Greek legislation for recognition of studies- holding the title of specialization in Otorhinolaryngology, or having completed residency at least of one year of General Surgery and of one year in Otorhinolaryngology. The Program is organized into 4 academic terms.
  • The Department of Educational Sciences and Early Childhood Education at the University of Patras in cooperation with the Pedagogical Department of the University of Nicosia operates the approved Joint Postgraduate Program entitled ‘’Special Education’’. The Master Programme in Special Education is addressed to teachers of all levels of education and aims at deepening in the modern trends in special education, both at theoretical and practical level. It also aims at providing students the opportunity to get familiar with various assessment tools for identifying children with special needs and exercise in their implementation. An additional common goal is to help students become critical readers of educational research and be able to plan and carry out their own research activity. Finally, the program aims at the practical training of students, which will be mandatory and will be offered with the conventional (in person) training methods.
  • The Nanomedicine for Drug Delivery (NANOMED) Master’s degree is a 24-months curriculum offering a high quality and multidisciplinary education in the emerging field of Nanomedicine. The design of nanomedicines for drug delivery requires combining knowledge from Pharmacy, Biology, Chemistry, Medicine, Physics, and Engineering. Thus four European Universities have brought together their expertise in Nanomedicine to create a unique and comprehensive training programme: Paris Descartes University (coordinator, France), Patras University (Greece), Pavia University (Italy) and Angers University (France).
    Moreover, renowned experts in the field of Nanomedicine coming from academia and industry are also involved as guest Lecturers or invited Professors. The curriculum provides both theoretical and practical knowledge for 3 semesters combined with a 6-months traineeship. Application requirements will include the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, or (under special provisions) in Medicine, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Material Sciences or other adequate discipline. English language proficiency is a main requirement.
    The NANOMED EMJMD (Nanomedicine for Drug Delivery) aims at filing the gap between basic training in Drug Delivery currently provided by most Schools of Pharmacy at the Master’s level, and advanced knowledge in Nanomedicine required for post-graduate young scientists. The NANOMED graduates will thus understand and be able to integrate the advances in Nanotechnology towards the development of Advanced Particulate Drug Delivery Systems.
