The interdisciplinary graduate program in “Mathematics of Computers and Decision Making” is organized and taught by members of the staff of the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics (CEID) and the Department of Mathematics of the University of Patras and administered by the latter. The program offers three areas of concentration,

  1. Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science and Applications in Artificial Retrieval of Inferences and Decision Making,

  2. Statistics, Operations Research and Applications to Decision Making,

  3. Numerical Methods: Theory and Applications in Decision Making.

The goal of the program is to provide its graduates with the knowledge and expertise in those aspects of theoretical and applied mathematics that are needed in decision making and computing for science, engineering, management and economics. These areas are highly relevant in today's Information and Big Data Society. The program of study has a two year duration and requires the completion of a set of core courses and an appropriate mix of courses from one area of concentration and electives as well as the preparation and successful defense of a Diploma thesis. Attendance is compulsory. The program accepts students holding relevant undergraduate degrees in Mathematical Sciences or Engineering. Depending on individual qualifications, some students may also be admitted under special conditions.
