The multidisciplinary M.Sc. program “Data Driven Computing and Decision Making” (DDCDM for short) is a three-semester (90 ECTS) postgraduate program offered jointly by the Department of Computer Engineering & Informatics (CEID) of the School of Engineering and the Department of Mathematics of the School of Natural Sciences of the University of Patras. The program is administered by CEID. The objective of the program is to provide graduate level education and training (second cycle) in the processing and analysis of data as well as inferencing and decision making on modern computing systems. It is expected that DDCDM graduates would be trained and able to contribute in a) the representation, handling and processing of big data by applying state-of-the-art theoretical and practical computational tools, algorithms and techniques, b) data mining and knowledge extraction methods, c) data modelling and simulation, d) methodologies, algorithms and technologies for decision making systems, e) designing and evaluating tools for the software stack and computational infrastructure of information systems and platforms.

DDCDM courses are taught primarily by faculty members from CEID and the Department of Mathematics. Participating faculty are highly experienced in teaching and research in areas related to the above topics.

The program requires the completion of at least 60 ECTS in terms of courses (5 compulsory and 3 elective courses distributed over the first 2 semesters) and an M.Sc. Thesis undertaken during the last (third) semester. The program carries no tuition or other fees. Courses are taught in Greek or English.

The program normally accepts applications from graduates of departments of Computer Engineering and Informatics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or departments in Schools of Science, Engineering or Economics provided that these programs have an orientation or major in Computer Science or Statistics that the applicants have followed. It is expected that applicants have an adequate background in mathematics, computing and statistics. In all cases, the departments of origin must be recognized by ΔΟΑΤΑΠ (the Hellenic National Academic Recognition Information Centre).
