The postgraduate program, entitled “Information Processing Systems and Machine Intelligence” (INF_INT), is offered and co-organized by the following three departments of the University of Patras:

  • Computer Engineering and Informatics
  • Electrical and Computer Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering & Aeronautics

Information Processing Systems and Machine Intelligence are closely interconnected areas and they are basic constituent parts of modern information engineering.   The INF_INT Master’s program provides recent graduates and working professionals with a broad training in Signal Information Processing and Machine Learning / Intelligence, covering not only the theoretical but also the implementation aspects of the subject.

It is intended for:

a) recent graduates who wish to develop specialized knowledge and skills to pursue a career to the relevant industry,

b) those who seek advanced study opportunities on the subject in order to get prepared for research work in an academic or industrial environment,

c) engineers or other working professionals wishing to further develop their skills, update their knowledge, and work on state-of-the-art research problems in Signal Information Processing and Machine Learning / Intelligence.

The program runs for three semesters. The first two of them include coursework, while the third semester is devoted to a Master’s thesis.

Applicants are expected to have a good introductory background in disciplines such as mathematics, signals and systems, probability and statistics, pattern recognition, elements of  machine learning and digital signal processing. Applicants with different (but relevant) undergraduate background (e.g. Mathematics, Physics) are also welcome to apply but they will be considered on a case-by-case basis and they may be asked to attend pre-requisite courses.

Language:   Presently, all classroom lectures are given in Greek, while teaching material may be both in Greek or in English.  Also, the Master’s thesis can be conducted and written either in Greek or in English.
