Title: Supercomputing @ Work: How is HPC Changing the Way we Do Science and Business
Subtitle: Concrete Examples in Life Sciences and Data Analytics
Abstract:
Computational Science is now widely acknowledged to be the third pilar of science, next to Theory and Experimentation. Armed with powerful algorithms, hardware and software, Computational Science opens new frontiers in virtually all aspects of science and technology. Indeed, at the dawn of the PetaFlop era Supercomputers are drastically changing the way we do Science and Business. In this talk, we will showcase our recent work in Life Sciences and Data Analytics. In particular, we will discuss large scale computational models for Osteoporosis that can significantly enhance diagnosis and prognosis. We will also discuss a recent breakthrough in data Uncertainty Quantification which allowed the analysis of 9TB of data in less than 20 minutes using roughly 300K cores.
