The Department of International Affairs promotes the internationalization of the University and its cooperation with countries of the European Union as well as with countries all over the world, through targeted actions and policies.

The Department manages mobility programmes such as Erasmus+ and Erasmus+ / International Mobility for studies, placement, teaching and training, with a view to promoting Education and Training for Youth and Sports. It also manages the Harvard, Berkley and Johns Hopkins scholarships.

The Department coordinates:

  • the participation in international trends and in shaping future education policies
  • the development of long-term and strategic co-operations
  • the creation of international mobility opportunities
  • the improvement of academic quality and excellence
  • the attraction of prominent personalities
  • the University’s highly prestigious recognition

In addition, the Department:

  • informs the academic society on international projects, scholarships, mobility and universities networks and supports the University staff who wish to be active abroad
  • promotes co-operations and agreements with EU and non-EU countries and proposes internationalization strategies
  • is responsible for Erasmus+ Programme reports (interim and annual) and publications related to international cooperations
  • participates in international universities networks such as: EUA, SGroup, UNeECC, Black Sea Universities, EUCEN, UniAdrion, Magna Charta Observatory etc.
  • organizes infodays, welcoming and supporting events, sightseeing tours and excursions for Erasmus students, encourages the connections between foreign and Greek students, supports Greek language courses
  • completes questionnaires and participates, in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Unit of the University of Patras, in international surveys for University Rankings.
