The academic function of the Department of Tourism Management starts from the beginning of the academic year 2019-2020 according to article 36 par. 3 of Law 4610/2019 (Government Gazette 70/7.5.2019). The mission of the Department of Tourism Management of the School of Economics and Business of the University of Patras is:

  1.     The integrated education of students in the field of management of tourism enterprises and organizations as well as in the planning of tourism policy and development at local, regional, national and international level.
  2.     The interdisciplinary approach of both the tourist field and the tourism sector in a changing political, economic, social, technological and cultural environment, with modern methods and research tools

The aim of the programme is to provide organized undergraduate studies in the management of tourism and tourist enterprises through a multidisciplinary training combining theory with practice / technology and teaching with research. More specifically, the field of tourism education and research is approached both at the microeconomic level (business activity in tourism and tourism enterprises) and at the macroeconomic level (development and tourism policy at national and regional level).

The undergraduate curriculum of the Department of Tourism Management provides the essential and necessary modern training for executives who aim high in their career in all sectors of the tourism industry.
