Panagiotopoulos Giorgos is Associate Professor at the Department of History -Archaeology of the University of Patras with the subject “Management, Development and Training of Human Resources”. He was born in Lechaina, Ilias. His main studies are in Political Sciences and Pedagogy. He holds a degree in Political Sciences and Public Administration from the National Kapodistrian University, the Pedagogical Academy of Rhodes and the Marasleyan Teaching School of the University of Athens, specializing in Special Education. His postgraduate studies are in Health Care Management and his PhD in the field of education and training of human resources. Since 2006 he has been an Associate Teaching Staff member in the Postgraduate Programme of Studies “Education Sciences” of the Hellenic Open University and a lecturer in the postgraduate programme “Management of Education” of the Department of Management Science and Technology of the University of Patras. His teaching work also includes teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate study programs of the University of Patras, the Democritus University of Thrace, the University of the Aegean, the former Technological Educational Institution of Western Greece, and ASPAITE.
His scientific work focuses on management, training and human resources development and includes participation in research projects, international publications, writing books and book chapters and presentations at international conferences.
In December 2014 he was appointed Assistant Professor at the Technological Educational Institution of Western Greece. From September 2021 to September 2022, he served as Chairman of the Department of Museology of the University of Patras.
Other indicative experience
For 25 years he served in primary education as a teacher, school principal and Regional Director of Education of Western Greece. (2010-2014). From 1993 to 2004, he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Lechaenon Centre for Children’s Health Care (Ministry of Health and Welfare) and from 2001 to 2003, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Organization for the Improvement of the Pineio-Alfeios River (G.O.E.B. P/A) (Ministry of Agriculture). From 1998 to 2007 he served the Prefectural Government of Ilia as Prefectural Councillor, Deputy Prefect and General Secretary of Prefectural Government.
