Δύο ομιλίες στο πλαίσιο του θεσμού των “ΓΕΩΣΥΝΑΝΤΗΣΕΩΝ” και του προγράμματος κινητικότητας Erasmus+ | 23/06/2026

Αγαπητές/οί συνάδελφοι, αγαπητές/οί φοιτήτριες/φοιτητές,

Έχουμε τη χαρά να φιλοξενούμε την επόμενη εβδομάδα στο πανεπιστήμιό μας δύο εκλεκτούς συναδέλφους από την Πορτογαλία, την Καθηγήτρια Ana Cláudia Teodoro (University of Porto) και το Δρ. Nelson Pires.

Στο πλαίσιο της επίσκεψής τους, θα πραγματοποιήσουν δύο ομιλίες την Τρίτη 23 Ιουνίου 2026 στις 10:30 στην αίθουσα 026 του Τμήματος Γεωλογίας.

Ακολουθούν οι τίτλοι των ομιλιών και σύντομα βιογραφικά των ομιλητών.

 

Ana Cláudia Teodoro: “Using EO data as a sustainable and environmentally friendly approach to monitoring the entire mining life cycle”

Ana Cláudia Teodoro received the BS., MSc., PhD, and Habilitation degrees in Geospatial Engineering from the Faculty of Science, University of Porto. Currently, she is a Full Professor at the University of Porto and the Coordinator of the Earth Science Institute of Earth Science (University of Porto Pole). Her research interests include remote sensing, GIS, image processing, coastal zones, and environmental and geological applications. She has published more than 230 papers (ISI WoS and Scopus) and eight book chapters. She is an Editor-in-Chief, an associate editor, and a guest editor for over 15 indexed journals. She participates as a researcher in several international (H2020) and national projects, coordinating tasks and coordinating one European project (HORIZON). She is an Expert Evaluator of HORIZON projects.

 

Nelson Pires: “Open Source Point Clouds: State-of-the-Art Techniques in LiDAR Analysis” 

Nelson Pires holds a B.S. in Physics and Geospatial Engineering, as well as an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Geospatial Engineering from the Faculty of Science at the University of Porto. Over the past 15 years, Nelson has conducted research, taught courses, and provided enterprise consultancy across various sectors of the geospatial academic and industrial communities. His research interests span remote sensing techniques and sensor synergies focused on marine, terrestrial, and atmospheric applications; computer vision and point cloud processing for photogrammetric and LiDAR applications; and autonomous surface vehicles dedicated to hydrographic surveying and oceanographic data collection. A devoted supporter of the free software movement for over 20 years, Nelson relies exclusively on open-source technologies for all his workflows.
