Petros Galanakis has an extensive background in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly within the realms of medical affairs and clinical research. Beginning his academic journey at the University of Patras, Petros laid a strong foundation with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Chemistry, followed by a Master of Science (MSc) in Medicinal Chemistry. He holds a PhD in Pharmacy from University of Patras, demonstrating a strong academic foundation complemented by multiple fellowships and awards.
Embarking on his professional path, Petros’s role evolved from a Clinical Research Associate (CRA) at AbbVie Pharmaceuticals, through pivotal positions as a Medical Science Liaison and Medical advisor at Novartis Hellas, to Medical leadership roles at AstraZeneca. His tenure at AstraZeneca Greece is particularly notable, where he has served as the Medical Lead for Respiratory & Immunology and Vaccines & Immune Therapies, while between 2020 and 2022 he had a regional assignment as a Medical Lead. In his current role as the Medical Director for Greece and Cyprus, Petros is a member of the local AstraZeneca Senior Management Team. Guided by a set of core values and a strong sense of purpose he is committed to contribute to healthcare advancements and drive a positive impact in society. His hobbies include reading, photography, and traveling, pursuits he enjoys whenever his responsibilities as a father to a 12-year-old daughter and at work permit.
